The Headless Turn Out Hood is fixed in place with an adjustable velcro belly band on the girth. Constructed of a fully breathable, robust, comfortable, machine washable fabric and lined with a seamless, shiny fabric through the mane and shoulder. The Headless Turn Out Hood is water repellent, mud proof and wind proof.
The Headless Turn Out Hood is elasticated and adjustable around the top and cut extra long so it sits securely behind the ears even when the neck is extended down fully to graze. There is the option of a zip - NEW for 2018 super strong YKK zip! - for ease of fitting which runs from top to chest. Without the zip the Hood is ‘pull on’ so simply slipped over the nose and pulled back into position.
ZIP OR PULL ON ? - we would always recommend a pull on hood unless the horse is head shy. Why? Less fiddly, Less to break, Less Bulky. If your horse is head shy or would find fitting stressful or upsetting, we would always recommend a zipped hood.

To avoid winter mane rubbing and subsequently mane loss we recommend to use the Headless Turn Out Hood all Winter WITHOUT high or full neck rugs as much as possible. We suggest to only use rugs with necks on very wet or very cold days - the Headless Turn Out Hood is more than adequate protection for your horse or pony otherwise.

TOP TIP - Grease is a common cause for mane loss/rubbing. To reduce mane loss use the Headless Turn Out Hood but wash it regularly to keep the lining grease free. Ensure the mane is clean and non greasy too for best results!
Use with the Turn Out Head on those disgusting days when you need to keep the mud/cold at bay on your horse or pony's face and ears! The Headless Turn Out Hood attaches to the Turn Out Head with a velcro loop and d-ring for security and to prevent gaps. The surcingle is designed to sit ON THE GIRTH - as near the foreleg as possible and as tight as possible to prevent it slipping back along the body.
The cuff around the head end of the hood should be TIGHT ! This is to prevent the hood sliding back along the neck.
When the horses head is down eating he or she should take up all the slack in the neck. If in doubt - do not turn out. Contact us directly with photos if possible.

The Winter Under Rug (formerly the Spik & Span Rug) is perfect for use as an under Rug or extra layer in the colder months to keep your horse or pony warm with a clean and dry belly.
Stops winter coats coming through as early and keeps a clipped coat for longer. Also helps to lie the coat flat and add shine.
Use in the field or stable under any rug. Also suitable for use in the trailer or lorry.
The Snuggy Winter Under Rug covers chest, shoulders, body and full belly with an XL tail flap. Water repellent, mud proof, fully breathable and robust fabric with full belly coverage.
Use under any rug or alone in warmer weather. Teamed with the Turn Out Hood or Headless Turn Out Hood the combination offers ultimate protection from the elements.
Sizes - 4'6" to 7’3” - PLEASE NOTE - The sizes are generous due to the stretch in the fabric so if your horse/pony is between sizes, choose the smaller.
Choosing the size - please remember that the fit design is tight and that there is stretch in the fabric. The rug must not hang over the base of the tail - with the seam for the tail protection sitting just above the base of the tail. The rug neck is designed to sit high, a good 6 inches or so in front of the sensitive wither area. The neck must be tight. Some customers do order 1-2 sizes smaller to ensure the close fit needed. Try on the horse and pull the rug back to test it for length... Any concerns, please get straight in touch with photos before removing the rug in case it needs to be exchanged. We can also offer alterations for all in-between sizes and used items.

The Snuggy Jams Hood is made from the softest, cosy polar fleece and covers face, ears, neck and chest. It will help to stop a Winter coat come through so quickly, keep a clipped coat for longer and add shine/help the coat lie flat.
The Jams Hood is lined through the mane and shoulder area with a no-seam silky fabric to prevent rubbing, the nose band is adjustable for a good fit. There is the option of a zip for ease of fitting which runs from chin to chest. Without the zip the Hood is ‘pull on’ so simply slipped over the nose and pulled back into position.
