I purchased the Snuggy Hood Winter Under Rug primarily to help with my horse’s sweet itch – especially his belly rubbing – and overall I’m really impressed.
The rug is very well made, feels high quality, and arrived beautifully packaged. Fit-wise, I was genuinely shocked at how good it is. My horse is a big 17hh, and anyone with a large horse will know how hard it is to find rugs that fit properly without being tight in the chest, short on the belly straps, or ending up looking like a mini skirt (if you know, you know). This rug actually gets the belly coverage spot on, which was the whole reason I bought it – and since wearing it, he has completely stopped rubbing his belly.
The fabric is lovely and comfortable, and the coverage has made a huge difference to his comfort during midge season. He’s currently living in the two I own and is clearly much happier.
The only downside I’ve noticed is that the rug does slip back, which is a bit annoying. I ordered a second one in a smaller size to see if that would help, but it does the same thing. Length-wise, both are the size I normally buy in other rugs, so I’m not sure if this is a sizing/fitting quirk or just how they sit on my horse.
That said, despite this minor issue, these rugs have been fantastic for sweet itch management, and the coverage they provide has made a real difference. Overall, I’d absolutely recommend them, especially for horses that struggle with belly irritation during midge season.
Fits as it should and easy to put on and take off, works well with the hood, fabulous item!

I had to clip my Haflinger’s belly. Since we’re dealing with double-digit subzero temperatures, I was looking for something that would cover his belly. He feels very comfortable in it. The material is excellent, and I can highly recommend it.
I initially had to exchange one item, and that process was smooth and uncomplicated.
We’re very happy.
