**PLEASE STUDY THE FITTING ADVICE CAREFULLY - WE DO RECOMMEND THAT THE HORSE IS STABLED WHEN FIRST TRYING ANY HOOD**
Constructed of a robust yet breathable, shower proof, fully washable, stretch fabric and lined with a silky shoulder and mane saver to prevent these areas from being rubbed or chaffed. It is designed for use all year round.
The Turn Out Hood also features a water repellent finish, an adjustable nose for better fit, self-fixing surcingle and elastic poll adjusters for added security. It is fully breathable and comfortable as well as mud proof and wind proof.
There is the option of a zip - NEW for 2018 super strong YKK zips! - for ease of fitting which runs from chin to chest. Without the zip the Hood is ‘pull on’ so simply slipped over the nose and pulled back into position. Now with Ears as standard. Ears can be easily cut off if not required.
ZIP OR PULL ON ? - we would always recommend a pull on hood unless the horse is head shy. Why? Less fiddly, Less to break, Less Bulky. If your horse is head shy or would find fitting stressful or upsetting, we would always recommend a zipped hood.
This best selling Winter Hood is silky lined so helps protect your horse or pony's mane and shoulder from rubbing. We recommend to use the Turn Out Hood with a standard neck rug. Try to avoid using high neck rugs as much as possible to avoid excess heat/pressure on the mane area which can result in hair loss. We suggest to only use rugs with necks on very wet or very cold days - the Turn Out Hood is more than adequate protection for your horse or pony otherwise.

TOP TIP - Grease is a common cause for mane loss/rubbing. To reduce mane loss use the Headless Turn Out Hood but wash it regularly to keep the lining grease free. Ensure the mane is clean and non greasy too for best results!
Use the Turn Out Hood alongside the Winter Under Rug (formerly Spik & Span Rug) or Fleece Jams Rug for complete coverage and protection from the elements. With full belly coverage in either fleece or weatherproof fabric, these combinations keep your horse or pony's tummy warm and clean, preventing hairy, cold, muddy tummies and giving you more time to enjoy your horse.

SIZING
Unfortunately we are unable to guarantee fit so do advise you watch the fitting videos and contact us immediately if at all unsure about the fitting. Feel free to send photos.
Rule of thumb is :
Surcingle, TIGHT and sitting on the girth as near the fore leg as possible - do not be tempted to sit it any further back. It should be tight enough to prevent it sliding back along the body.
Cheek, TIGHT. Nose can be loosened off
Adjusters either side the face, TIGHT and done up as tight as possible. There should be enough slack in the neck for her to extend her neck fully to eat from the floor.
Ears can easily be shortened / cut off if required.
PLEASE BE INCREDIBLY FUSSY WITH THE FITTING OF ANY PRODUCT COVERING THE HORSES FACE. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR HORSE UNATTENDED UNLESS YOU ARE CONFIDENT THAT THE HORSE IS HAPPY AND THAT YOU ARE HAPPY WITH THE FIT. IF UNSURE, PLEASE REMOVE IT IMMEDIATELY AND CONTACT US, OR PHOTOGRAPH IT ON YOUR HORSE IF YOU WOULD LIKE US TO CHECK.
AS WITH ANY ITEM, ILL FIT CAN CAUSE RUBBING AND CAN MOVE WHICH CAN BE DANGEROUS. THAT SAID, WE MUST ADD, THAT THE BEST FITTING HOOD AND RUG CAN MOVE IF CAUGHT ON SOMETHING OR RUBBED OR PULLED AT. UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE UNABLE TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS.
