Product Description
The Headless Turn Out Hood helps keep your horse clean and protects the mane without covering the face. Covering the neck, chest, shoulders and withers, it can be worn under any stable or turnout rug for protection through the winter.
Please read our fitting advice carefully. We recommend keeping your horse stabled when first trying any hood so you can check the fit and monitor their comfort.
Protection from mud, wind and mane rubbing
- Breathable, robust and comfortable fabric that is water-repellent, mud-proof and windproof.
- Seamless, silky lining along the mane and shoulders to help prevent rubbing and protect the mane.
- Extra-long neck with an elasticated, adjustable top for coverage behind the ears—even when your horse lowers their head to graze.
- Adjustable Velcro girth band holds the hood in place independently of your rug.
- Machine washable for easy care.
Pull-On or Zip?
We recommend Pull-On for horses comfortable having a hood slipped over their nose. It is less bulky, with no zip to fiddle with or break.
For head-shy horses or those who find fitting stressful, choose the Zip version. Its zip runs from the top of the neck down to almost the bottom of the chest to make fitting easier.
Make the most of its mane protection
Our No. 1 winter bestseller for mane protection. To help minimise rubbing, we recommend pairing it with a rug without a high or full neck wherever conditions allow. Add a rug neck when needed in very wet or cold weather, taking your horse’s individual needs into account.
Wash the hood regularly to keep its lining free from grease build-up, which can contribute to rubbing and mane loss. Keep the mane clean and free from excess grease too.
Need face coverage as well?
Add the separately available Turn Out Head for face and ear coverage. A Velcro loop and D-ring connect the two pieces to help keep them together and prevent gaps.
For body and full belly coverage, pair with the Winter Under Rug or Jams Fleece Rug..

Fitting Advice
Fitting Advice
Please make sure to study our Fitting Advice and Size Guide pages for further information. You will also find helpful videos on fitting your product properly on the Fitting Advice page.
FITTING ADVICE - please ensure the following ... (and watch the fitting videos)
The surcingle is designed to sit ON THE GIRTH - as near the foreleg as possible and as tight as possible to prevent it slipping back along the body.
The cuff around the head end of the hood should be TIGHT ! This is to prevent the hood sliding back along the neck.
When the horses head is down eating he or she should take up all the slack in the neck. If in doubt - do not turn out. Contact us directly with photos if possible.
PLEASE BE INCREDIBLY FUSSY WITH THE FITTING OF ANY PRODUCT COVERING THE HORSES FACE. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR HORSE UNATTENDED UNLESS YOU ARE CONFIDENT THAT THE HORSE IS HAPPY AND THAT YOU ARE HAPPY WITH THE FIT. IF UNSURE, PLEASE REMOVE IT IMMEDIATELY AND CONTACT US, OR PHOTOGRAPH IT ON YOUR HORSE IF YOU WOULD LIKE US TO CHECK.
AS WITH ANY ITEM, ILL FIT CAN CAUSE RUBBING AND CAN MOVE WHICH CAN BE DANGEROUS. THAT SAID, WE MUST ADD, THAT THE BEST FITTING HOOD AND RUG CAN MOVE IF CAUGHT ON SOMETHING OR RUBBED OR PULLED AT. UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE UNABLE TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS.

Many thanks for taking the time to review your order. May I ask, have you contacted us to discuss a return/refund or exchange or for help and assistance with the sizing?
Our return policy is standard and we do not expect you to keep or use an item which doesn't fit.
I hope that someone can help. You can contact us by email, telephone, whatsapp or via our website or social media outlets. Exchanges are normally quick and easy.
I hope that this is helpful.
The neck / mane cover is great . I think I need to send it back for a larger size as I found it too tight for a natives chest and neck . She is only a 3yr old dales . Hopefully the next size up will be ok
Hi Irene
Make sure that you are fastening the hood directly behind the front leg, at the elbow, then pull all the excess fabric forward into the neck to loosen off the chest. If pulled back and fastened back around the belly, it will appear tight on the chest. See the advice here - https://snuggyhoods.com/blogs/news/sizing-and-fitting
Send us some photos showing the fit and we would be more than happy to help further. :)
Wow ordered these from NZ and they were here in roughly a week. A beautiful product and helps keeps my Snow White horse a bit cleaner and warm.
Fits well on my lightweight veteran TBxCon mare, no rubbing or slipping.
I bought one when my horse had to recover from an injury on her neck, and I had to wrap it and keep it covered for a few weeks. Worked perfectly! Stayed in place without a halter (I appreciate the halter strap if I needed it), kept everything clean, and didn't rub at all. Even kept her dry through a sudden icy downpour!
I maybe should have bought one with a zipper for ease of putting on and taking off, but it's working well enough.
