Getting The Perfect Rug Fit For Your Native

When buying any rug for your horse to wear, fit is key, and should never be underestimated. If you’ve bought the most amazing rug with a whole range of features it could potentially cause more harm than good if it is ill fitting.

With us here at Snuggy Hoods it is not hard to achieve a good fit, we firstly advise the following before purchasing any rug.

Measure your horse first before you do anything, this can be done with a tape measure. Measure from centre of the chest around the body to the back of the hind leg, to one side of the tail.

It is important to remember that different fabrics have a different amount of stretch and therefore may fit differently. If you are unsure of sizing then it always best to contact the manufacturer first for advise. Snuggy Hoods rugs are made out of a variety of materials.

Shiny Show Lycra Rugs are very stretchy so choose smaller rather than bigger.

Our weatherproof rugs have a medium amount of stretch so order your horse's\pony's usually rug size or the closest size to their actual measurement. This applies to Spik & Span Rug, Sweet Itch Rug, and Bug Body.

Fleece Jams Rugs have a minimum stretch so order your horse's/pony's actual rug size or measurement.

Petticoat Rugs have no stretch in the fabric so choose bigger rather than smaller.

If you have a pony who is particularity awkward to rug then Snuggy Hoods have all the answers. We advise that firstly you purchase a standard size rug having followed the sizing guide carefully. Upon receiving the rug, firstly try the rug on your horse or pony ensuring that they are very clean. We advise that having a camera at the ready at this time is best, take the following photos to send us via email to sales@snuggyhoods.com.

• 1 x Landscape photo take from the side with head up.
• 1 x Landscape photo taken from the side with head down.
• 1 x Portrait photo of the front of your horse
• 1 x Portrait photo of the rear of your horse

If you have purchased a hood for your horse and are querying size then send us the following photos:

• 2 X Landscape photo with your horse only wearing the hood, one with head up and one with head down.

These photos will allow us to assess the fit of the rug/hood on your horse or pony. We are then able to advise on what alterations need to be made to create the perfect fit.

Snuggy Hoods Alteration Service

The alternation service is invaluable and extremely popular with our clients. Snuggy Hoods pride ourselves on our customer service, trying our best to overcome any problems you are experiencing with rug fitting.

A one off alteration fee of £25 includes the return courier service back to you. Alterations are usually returned to the customer within 14 working days unless notified otherwise. For further information please do not hesitate to get in touch, we are always more than happy to help.
