If you don't require neck protection the Sweet Itch Rug can be used alone. It can also be used with the Headless Sweet Itch Hood for amazing protection without covering the horse's face.
Plus there is also the option to add Front Legs, Sheath Cover or Udder Cover for extra coverage for severe sufferers. These items are purchased separately and need the appropriate attachments sewn on to the Sweet Itch Rug. During a sale/offer or discount period, customers are asked to add the appropriate attachments to their basket. If this is not done, you will receive an attachments pack with instructions leaflet, to enable you to add the necessary attachments yourself.
The Sweet Itch Rug prevents coat bleaching and being mud proof and water repellent it is also fabulous as an under rug for Autumn/Winter use, to keep your horse clean and add that extra breathable layer for warmth.

What is Sweet Itch?
Sweet Itch is caused by an allergic reaction to the bites of the Culicoides midge and, to a lesser extent, Simulium Equinum. At present there is no known cure for Sweet Itch. Once an equine develops the allergy it is generally affected every Spring, Summer and Autumn. There are two approaches to improving the comfort of an affected animal: to minimize the allergic reaction with corticosteroids, anti-histamines or soothing lotions or to minimise midge attack using a Sweet Itch Rug. The second method offers the most effective protection and avoids the need to use harsh chemicals, expensive repellents and messy oils or greases. The Snuggy Sweet Itch Rug has been approved by Veterinary professionals for the prevention of the midge bite allergic reaction.

Da mir die ewige und sinnlose Fliegensprayspüherei zu teuer wurde, habe ich meinem PRE eine Sweet itch gegönnt. Ich liebe sie! Der Bauchlatz ist perfekt, der doppelte Schweiflatz genau das, was wir brauchen. Die Decke sitzt super und verrutscht weder beim Buckeln noch beim Wälzen. Auch das Waschen ist einfach, da keine Metallteile in der Waschmaschine klappern. Die großen Flauschteile an der Seite machen das Ankletten total einfach und es verfängt sich kein Dreck im Klett, weil der so gut anliegt. Habe eine zweite gekauft und blicke der nächsten Weidesaison gelassen entgegen. Außerdem ist der Service von Becca und dem Team absolut großartig!

Bought usual 6’3” for me chunky dales pony. I have bought this rug before a few years ago. It washes well and give great protection, when used with the hood, for itchy ponies. Pony lives in the rug 24/7 even when it rains. Dries quickly brilliant rug
